In a recent announcement on X (formerly Twitter), OpenAI confirmed that GPT-4.1 and GPT-4.1 miniwill now be available within ChatGPT. The GPT-4.1 model is being positioned as a superior alternative to the o3 model for coding-related tasks, with improved accuracy and efficiency. Meanwhile, the GPT-4.1 mini—a more lightweight version—will replace the GPT-4o mini for free-tier users, offering faster response times at a significantly lower cost.

OpenAI is rolling out the new models in phases:
