Lava Shark 5G: Launch Date and Price in India

In an official press statement, Lava confirmed that the Shark 5G will launch in India on May 23. The handset is expected to be priced under Rs. 10,000, positioning it as a competitive player in the entry-level 5G smartphone segment. With such an aggressive pricing strategy, Lava is targeting users looking to upgrade to 5G without stretching their budget.

Lava Shark 5G Specifications(Expected):

1) Performance and Software

One of the most notable highlights is the Shark 5G’s AnTuTu benchmark score, which reportedly crosses 4,00,000, suggesting a capable performance tier for its class. The phone is expected to be powered by the Unisoc T765 SoC, according to a recent Geekbench listing, and paired with 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM. It will likely feature 64GB of internal storage, which should be expandable via microSD. Notably, the Lava Shark 5G is also tipped to run Android 15 out-of-the-box, making it one of the first entry-level devices with Google’s latest OS.

2) Camera and Design

In terms of optics, Lava has officially confirmed that the Shark 5G will sport a 13-megapixel AI-backed main rear camera. Leaks suggest that it will have a dual rear camera setup, with a circular LED flash module housed within a distinct camera island.

The design of the Lava Shark 5G is expected to closely resemble that of the Lava Shark 4G, which was launched in March. The 5G variant will reportedly be available in blue and gold colour options.

3) Durability and Display

The phone will come with an IP54 rating, offering dust and splash resistance—an appreciated feature at this price point. While display specifications haven’t been officially revealed, it is likely to inherit the 6.7-inch HD+ panel with a 120Hz refresh rate from its 4G sibling.

The Lava Shark 4G, priced at Rs. 6,999, featured a Unisoc T606 chipset, 5,000mAh battery, and 18W fast charging. It also packed a 50-megapixel primary rear camera, setting a high bar for camera performance in the segment. The design and durability features, including IP54 protection, may carry over to the new 5G variant.
