Wanindu Hasaranga reprimanded for breaking ICC code of conduct

Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga has been reprimanded for a breach of Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the World Cup qualifier against the Netherlands in Dubai. Hasaranga was found guilty of hitting the boundary rope with his bat while returning to the pavilion after being dismissed.
Hasaranga has accepted his mistake and has been given one demerit point. This is the second demerit point he has received in the last 24 months.
The ICC Code of Conduct is in place to ensure fair play and sportsmanship in cricket. While Hasaranga’s actions were not intentional, it is important for players to be aware of their actions on the field and to uphold the spirit of the game.
