Ek Villain Returns script took four years

Ek Villain Returns, a sequel to Riteish Deshmukh and Sidharth Malhotra starrer Ek Villain, released in 2014, is slated to hit the theaters on July 29. Like the original film, this film has also been directed by Mohit Suri. Talking  about Ek Villain Returns starring John Abraham, Arjun Kapoor, Disha Patani and Tara Sutaria, Mohit says, “The story of Ek Villain Returns is completely fictional. (laughs) Because I haven’t encountered a serial killer yet. I and the producer of this film Ekta Kapoor had decided to make a sequel to Ek Villain long back.

Ek villain was Ekta’s first and only film to go into the hundred-crore club. So we needed to find a suitable script. It took me about four years to write this film, in between the corona epidemic also came. I had to write a story for this film that not only justifies the Ek Villain brand but also has a link with the original film so that we can take this story even further. When we felt that there is something new in the story and through this we can take our Ek Villain brand forward, that is when we decided to move on to the production stage.
