There is little hope of getting approval for delaying the name of Indian wrestler for ASIA

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has requested the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) to extend the deadline for naming the Indian wrestling team for the Asian Games. However, there are indications that the OCA may reject this request, which would mean that wrestlers such as Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, and Sakshi Malik will have to participate in the trials with minimal preparation.
Despite the uncertainty, Vinesh, Bajrang, and other wrestlers have already begun their preparations for the trials. The IOA’s request for an extension reflects the challenges faced by athletes due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has disrupted training schedules and competitions. However, the decision ultimately lies with the OCA, and the IOA will have to abide by their ruling.
It is important to note that the Asian Games is a significant event for Indian wrestlers, and their performance can have a major impact on the country’s medal tally. Therefore, it is crucial that the athletes are given adequate time to prepare and compete at their best.
