Indian badminton player Aakarshi Kashyap caused an upset at the Spain Masters. India’s Aakarshi beat sixth seed Mitchell Lee 12-21, 21-15, 21-18. Canada’s Mitchell Lee has a world ranking of 15 while Aakarshi’s world ranking is 42. He defeated a top-15 player for the first time. Aakarshi has reached the pre-quarterfinals by winning in 51 minutes. Meanwhile, Kidambi Srikanth also reached the pre-quarterfinals of men’s singles. Fifth seed Srikanth beat Thailand’s Sittikom Thammasin 21-11, 25-27, 23-21. Whereas, the pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty retired in the first round while Tressa Jolly-Gayatri Gopichand suffered a defeat in the first round.
