Punjab: PRTC inspector arrested for taking ₹ 2 lakh bribe

Bathinda | In a significant development, the Vigilance Bureau has apprehended Inspector Davinder Singh, who was stationed at the PRTC Bathinda depot, on charges of soliciting a bribe amounting to Rs 2 lakh. The arrest was made following a complaint filed by Hardev Singh, a resident of Ralla village in Mansa. According to the Vigilance spokesperson, Hardev Singh alleged that he was employed as a driver at the PRTC Bathinda depot but was dismissed on March 16, 2023, after being found guilty of stealing 5 liters of diesel. It was further claimed that Inspector Davinder Singh demanded the bribe in exchange for reinstating him. Hardev Singh also provided an audio recording as evidence of the Inspector’s demand for a bribe.

Following a preliminary investigation into the complaint, a case has been registered against Inspector Davinder Singh at the Police Station Vigilance Bureau in Bathinda.
